Israel has killed 158 journalists since the start of the war on Gaza.

Field sources in the Gaza Strip reported today, Saturday, that five journalists were martyred in Israeli airstrikes on different areas of the Strip during the last 12 hours.

The sources named the martyred journalists as Saadi Madoukh, Adeeb Sukkar, Amjad Jahjuh and his wife Wafa Abu Dhibaan, and Rizq Abu Ishkian.

This brings the total number of Palestinian journalists martyred since the start of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip on October 7th to 158.

The Center for the Protection of Palestinian Journalists condemned the killing of journalists by the Israeli occupation forces in Gaza. In a statement, it said that the ongoing crimes against Palestinian journalists are the result of a decision taken at the highest levels in Israel to obscure the truth and prevent the revelation of the massacres committed against civilians.

The statement noted that the toll of targeted Palestinian journalists in Gaza is the deadliest in modern history, calling for an independent and comprehensive international investigation into Israeli crimes against journalists.

Since the beginning of the aggression on Gaza, journalists in the Strip have faced continuous Israeli attacks directly targeting them, their homes, families, and media institutions.

The Israeli occupation deliberately kills journalists to suppress the Palestinian narrative, attempting to obscure the truth and hinder the dissemination of news and information to regional and global public opinion.

According to the Committee to Protect Journalists, which investigates all reports related to the killing, injury, and disappearance of journalists and media workers, this war has become the deadliest for journalists since the committee began its work in 1992.

In February, the International Center for Journalists announced that the war on Gaza has seen the highest levels of violence against journalists in 30 years, urging Israel to stop killing journalists and to investigate the incidents of their killings by its forces.

This is considered the largest massacre and the highest number of journalists killed in a single war in history.
